In April of 2007, volunteers from Rebuilding Together Mohawk Valley, local Rotarians and students from Hamilton College turned an empty lot into a vegetable garden at the Neighborhood Center in Utica, NY. The crew cleaned and painted a walkway into the garden and tool shed, constructed and installed several picnic tables, raised bed planters, and one wheelchair accessible planter, and constructed a pergola/seating area on the site. The aim of the garden was for the children at the Center to grow a variety of vegetables that they would later harvest for pizza making.
